The history of the association "KOPFLOS e. V."

... starts in the beginning of the 1980s with anatomic drawing studies in the cellars of the Medical University of Hannover by a group of sculptors and medical students.

Our group

After some time they made up their minds in favour of live models. They met regularly in a school (Bürgerschule) in the northern part of Hannover. Finally they found rooms in the buildings of a former factory, which was devoted to cultural and social activities by the FAUST project of Hannover-Linden. For this it was necessary that the group was officially registered as a cultural non-profit organisation in 1991.

Since then, the two branches of activities have been established:

  • the Sculptors' Workshop (in the ground floor of the Zinsser hall) where the materials used are metal, stone and wood

  • the Studio (3rd floor of the Zinsser hall) where the life drawing classes take place and which in addition is used by three artists.

The change to the new studio in the Zinsser hall gave new impetus to the drawing classes which are attended not only by people from Hannover, but also attract guests from the surrounding region.

These are the main activities of KOPFLOS:

  • open life drawing classes each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m

  • Saturday drawing and photo sessions approximately once every month

  • Sculpture classes  (offering also project weeks for schools)

  • Active participation in local exhibitions ("Künstlerfrühling", "Basar bizarr" etc.) and also occasional personal exhibitions by members of the group

  • continuous art work in the studio and the sculptors' workshop
